Origin / Origine :
There is very little information to be found about this italian instrument maker. According to the “Brinser”, the only source that mentions his name, he must have been 23 years of age in 1901. This double bass wears the number 2, indicating an instrument from the beginning of his career. One can see that the label has been altered. The date of 1901 has been changed to 1891, to make this instrument look like a 19th century instrument.
Until this day, I have not been able to find another double bass by Corsi.
This double bass is made from good quality spruce for its top , and figured walnut for its ribs, back and scroll. The neck has previously been grafted with a block of flammed maple.
The varnish is thick dark brown-red and slightly crackled.
The workmanship is not very carefull, adding some charm, like so many Italian double basses.
Unlike the front, the back is not purfled.
The 4 tuners are of French making, and seem to be original to this bass.
This bass has a deep, slightly cotton sound.
General condition / Etat général :
This double bass has undergone many repairs and restorations, but its condition is good.
